Anouchka Renaud-Eck is an artist who divides her time between France and India.
Her photography explores the complexities of identity and the relationship between self and other, focusing on the theme of the double. Her photographic approach is rooted in documentary practice.
From 2020 to 2024, she worked on ARDHA (Half), a long-term project examining arranged marriage in India. This project goes beyond the wedding ceremony to explore the values and nuances of the union, aiming to represent the inner feelings of hope and loss felt by the individuals involved in the union process, particularly in today's technological landscape that shapes this age-old tradition of arranged marriage. In sharing the diverse stories she encounters, Anouchka seeks to create a narrative that resonates with many and challenges the notion of the perfect union.
Through her reflections on union, she illuminates the emotional journeys of individuals across different cultural contexts, fostering a deeper understanding of identity, love and the grief that can result from it, as well as the societal norms that universally shape our lives.
